Swift secured a number of High Point trophies

By SPORTS WRITER ~ For The Guardian:

Swift Swimming Club finished second to the Barracudas Swim Club at the recently held Barracudas Swim Meet, but they took home most of the high point trophies. In the points standings, Swift Swimming finished with 1,091.50 points compared to 2,239 for the Barracudas. The Dolphins Swim Club finished third with 473 points, the Sea Bees were fourth with 344.50 points, and The Bahamas Orcas rounded out the top five with 25 points.

Swimming in the second swim meet for the new year, quite a few Swift swimmers won high point trophies. A total of five of the top 10 overall high point winners were members of Swift Swimming Club. Leading the way with the top honors was Kacey Kemp and Peter Morley representing the 8-and-under age group, Lauren Knowles in the 9-10 age group, Simone Sturrup in the 11-12 age group, and Anibal Hernandez Valdes in the 13-14 age group.

Also representing Swift and taking home some of the hardware with second and third overall finishes was Luke Kennedy Thompson in the 8-and-under category, Charlotte Reed in the 9-10 category, Nicholas Rahming and Alec Sands in the 9-10 category, Doran Reed in the 11-12 category, Abigail Lowe in the 13-14 category, and Shaunte Moss as a senior. Also making CARIFTA standards at the meet were Zack Moses, Simone Sturrup, Doran Reed, and Anibal Hernandez Valdes.

The meet was used for many swimmers to swim events that they may not have swam for some time and therefore improve their times. Many swam just the sprint events, covering eight races that enabled them to win a high point trophy. With about a month left before the CARIFTA team is named, many are getting those qualifying times early in order to be better prepared for winning medals at CARIFTA. First place finishes at the meet were also turned in by Janae Davis, Laura Morley and Crystal Rahming from Swift Swimming Club. The next meet on the schedule is the Bahamas Swimming Federation's (BSF) Timed Trials on Friday February 12, and Saturday February 13.
