Top junior and senior track and field athletes turned out in great numbers to compete in the Fritz Grant Track and Field Invitational, hosted by the Ambassadors Athletic Club on Saturday. Although there were spectacular performances by many of the athletes, stealing the show were the athletes competing in the under-nine through 15 divisions. In the girls' under-11 division 100 meters (m), Asia Butler got the best of the field with a blazing time of 13.66 seconds. She was followed by Catalyn Blayre in 14.21 seconds and Tai Dorsett in 14.40 seconds. Winning the 100m in the under-13 division was Makeya White in 12.98 seconds. Khadijah Fraser was second in 13.05 seconds and Taryn Rolle was third in 13.45 seconds. The under-nine division 100m dash was claimed by Marrisa White in 15.80 seconds. Donte Hunt followed in 15.90 seconds with Tanae Miller rounding out the top three in 15.93 seconds. It was a close race in the under-15 girls 100m, but in the end, Shaunae Miller got the win over teammate Aalyiah Harris and Rikki Barry. Miller's time was recorded at 12.64 seconds, Harris crossed the line in 12.91 seconds and Barry in 12.99 seconds. Fraser claimed the under-13 division's 400m in 1:06.04, Dannielle Gibson finished in second in 1:06.69, and Jeorjette Williams was third in 1:08.36. It was a double victory on the field for Dannielle Gibson. She won both the high and long jump events with leaps of 1.32m and 4.52m respectively. Finishing in second place in the high jump event was Makeya White with a clearance of 1.22m and Janae Ambrose was third with a clearance of 1.06m. Keanama Albury was second in the long jump event with a jump of 4.44m. She was followed by Taryn Rolle with a best jump of 4.23m. On the boys end, the 100m in the under-11 division went to Daril Davis, who won in a time of 14.65 seconds. Kenneth Sweeting was second in 14.66 seconds and Branson Rolle finished third in 15.13 seconds. Antione Cooper won the boy's under-nine division 100m in a time of 15.01 seconds. Miguel Bethel crossed the line in second in a time of 15.50 seconds and Aaron Bastian was third in 15.74 seconds. Todd Isaacs would claim the under-13 boys 100m in 12.89 seconds, while Ian Kerr held off Timothy Wilson for second place. The second and third place times were 12.93 seconds and 12.94 seconds respectively. Having already qualified for the Junior Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Championships, V'Alonee Robinson tested her speed in the 100m, this time in the open women's division. Robinson got the best of the field, clocking 11.78 seconds for the win over Ivanique Kemp, who finished in 12.11 seconds and Ashlee Dorsett who was third in 12.64 seconds. The open men's 100m was claimed by Lavardo Smith in a time of 10.56 seconds. Marcus Thompson followed in 10.64 seconds and Jamal Forbes was third in 10.65 seconds. The men's 400m was won by Olympic hopeful Michael Matthieu in 46.63 seconds.
