By D. Paul Reilly:
Let me commence by asking you a pretty straightforward question. Now, here's the question. Do you like, really love what you do for a living, or are you just doing what you do in order to get a paycheck at the end of the week, or month, as the case may be? Now, that's an extremely important question for you to ponder here today, and then answer with complete candor. I'll bet my bottom dollar, as the saying goes, that a whole lot of people will answer by saying something like this. Do I like my job? Hell No, I'm only here because of the money I get at the end of the week, which assists me in paying my bills.
Well, that would indeed be a very honest statement which I believe many would make, but it's also an extremely sad reflection on the fact, that so many people are doing what they're doing for a living, purely and solely for the money. I have told people over and over again at lectures and seminars, if you really don't like what you're doing for a living, you need to quit, for you will never excel at anything until you, as the title of this article suggests 'Do what you love to do'.
I was listening to an interview last Sunday on the program '60 Minutes' on CBS with the very successful Pianist-Composer-Producer David Foster. David has composed so many great hit songs, and also discovered a whole slew of really great singers like Michael Buble, Josh Grodin, and many, many others. The interviewer asked him what was the key to success. He answered that most important question with the phrase which is in fact the title of this article ' Do what you love to do".
Yes My Friend, if you really wish to excel in life, there's absolutely no doubt about it, you need to 'Do what you love to do'. You know, I've always said, that there's a way in which to turn every negative experience into something positive. To back this up, I was reading an article in 'USA Today' last week, about a whole lot of people who having been laid off from work, who were having great difficulty in getting another suitable job.
So, a whole lot of these unemployed people have simply gone into business for themself, doing what they love to do, like opening a small store selling home-baked cookies. These people who were literally forced by circumstances to seek another means of making money, are doing extremely well financially, and are into the bargain, happier than they have every been in their entire life, simply because they're doing what they literally love to do. My Friend, don't you wait until you get laid off before you follow your heart's desire. Make a decision to DO IT NOW!
THINK ABOUT IT!
