Seeing the light
By THEA RUTHERFORD ~ Guardian National Correspondent ~ thea@nasguard.com:
Port Nelson, RUM CAY - Rev. Pearl Maycock, pastor of St. John's Native Baptist Church in Port Nelson, didn't accept the role of pastor right away. There was no doubt that Maycock, a wife and mother, loved the Lord with all her heart. She loved teaching the Sunday School classes she taught faithfully each week, and she loved leading the church prayer meetings in her role as a deaconness. Being deaconness was a role the preacher's daughter felt more than capable of handling. Becoming a pastor, on the other hand, took a lot more time to consider.
Nobody gets away with anything
I was talking with someone in a store the other day, and they mentioned the fact, that someone with a long criminal record had finally been apprehended by police and was now in custody. Her observation was, if you do the crime you've got to be prepared to do the time, as the saying goes; then she added a line which is so very full of Spiritual Wisdom. She said if only criminals could realize, that in the end 'Nobody gets away with anything'. Oh how absolutely correct she was in her assertion, her wise pronouncement.
My regular readers will know, that I am continually emphasizing the importance of The Universal Law of Cause & Effect which simply states, that what we put out each and every day in the form of thoughts, words, and deeds will, it MUST return to us at some time in the future, or as The Bible puts it 'As we SOW --- so shall we REAP'. This Law of Cause & Effect is of course basically God's Law, and it rules The Universe and everything in it, including incidentally your and my life.

There is hope
And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for 12 years. She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet, instead of getting better she grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought, "If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed." Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.
At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, "Who touched my clothes?"

It's darkest just before dawn
It is a fact, that the darkest part of the night is just before the dawn comes. My Friend, there's an excellent lesson for all of us to learn here today, as we all ponder this thought. So often in life, when things appear to be their darkest, when everything is going wrong all around us, daylight is in fact already on its way; a great solution to our problem is being hatched in the recesses of our fertile mind, which will ultimately lead us to a really bright future, crammed full with Super Success. Yes My Friend, there's no doubt about it, as the title of this article puts it 'It's darkest just before dawn'.
So, if you are going through a particularly rough time right now, and there appears to be no way out of your dilemma; take heart, whilst looking to the future where you'll see a chink of light illuminating the way forward, to a bright and indeed successful future. I'm sure we're all familiar with the well known saying 'Things are never as bad as they seem' well, this is indeed absolutely true. If you get bogged down in negativity, as far too many people do when things are not going too good for you in any facet of your life, the dawn will come, but you'll be so blinded to reality by your negativity, that you'll be unable to see the inevitable light at the end of the tunnel.

Money is like manure
A few weeks ago I watched a great concert on CBS featuring Barbara Streisand. It was absolutely amazing to me, that after all these years, her voice, her delivery, her phrasing, her impeccable timing was fantastic as she literally belted out many of her great hits from way back; it was a most enjoyable experience.
Now, most people will be aware of the fact, that Barbara Streisand does not particularly like making personal appearances and giving live concerts; instead, she's in her element in the recording studio, or making and directing movies. However, she is about to embark on a nationwide tour of concerts. She confided to the audience, that one of the main reasons for her upcoming tour, is that she will be able to raise a whole lot of money to donate to charity, particularly to help educate young children from poor neighborhoods. This is surely most commendable.

Midway into the year, 34 murders have been committed, with most of the crime and major social problems attributed to youth and males in particular, with the vast majority of the murder accused and the victims being young men. Increasingly, females are following the lead of males in this anti-social or self-destructive behavior, which means our youth are obviously in need of guidance and intervention.

Growth is in God's hands
He also said, "This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. All by itself the soil produces grain first, then stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head. "

A dedicated soul
By THEA RUTHERFORD ~ Guardian National Correspondent ~ thea@nasguard.com:
Bullocks Harbour, BERRY ISLANDS - The Bullocks Harbour community David Dean knew growing up has changed much. The water-trimmed settlement is home to not just settlers but the descendants of settlers from a handful of surrounding islands. People thrive on trickle down jobs from the cruise ships that visit the outlying cays almost every day. And St. Bartholomew's, once the small island's only church, is now one of a growing group of places to worship.
There are no accidents
I must say I have been extremely blessed to have been able to work with and thus learn so very much over the years from many legendary teachers in the field of Behavior Modification and Personal Development; experts such as Earl Nightingale affectionately known as The Dean of Personal Motivation, Dr. Maxwell Maltz who wrote the definitive book on Self-image Psychology 'Psycho-Cybernetics', and Best Selling Author and specialist in the field of High Performance Dr. Denis Waitley.
Dr. Waitley is the Author of a host of best selling books including 'The Psychology of Winning', 'Being your Best' and 'The Winner's Edge' to name a few. My association with each of these world renown leaders in their field, prepared me for the role I presently gladly fill, as I hopefully motivate people around the globe via the internet, the world wide web.

Great is the love of God
Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said, "Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous signs you are doing if God were not with him."
In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again."

Honor thy father and thy mother that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. Exodus 20:12.
Apart from June being my birth month and also that of my late father, it is an "active" month the beginning of the hurricane season, graduations, proms, the end of the fiscal year propelled with overly zealous House debates here in our country. But most of all the month of brides and weddings!

Kids will be kids?
There are, as far as I personally am concerned, a whole lot of phrases which have been handed down through the generations, which so many of us repeat day in and day out like parrots, but yet I believe, that if we were to just stop for a moment and reflect on what they actually mean, we'd find that in reality they don't make any sense at all. Now, one of these handed down phrases is the title of this article 'Kids will be kids?'. You will of course no doubt notice, that I've put a question mark after that phrase, because I am rather puzzled by its actual meaning.
I honestly believe, that whom ever initiated that phrase 'Kids will be kids', and indeed those who use it throughout this great big world of ours daily, are in effect endeavoring to convey to everyone, that the bad behavior which some children are displaying is quite natural; after all, 'Kids will be kids' they'll say with a supercilious, sheepish grin on their face, as the children in their care mess up again and again. Those who continually use this mindless phrase, when those in their care seem to habitually display disrespectful, rude, and completely unsatisfactory behavior, have a bad case of 'Excusitus'.
Victory over worry? Part 2
The Bible says that worry is part of human existence. Telling a person not to worry is like telling a person to deny his emotion and the fact that he is worrying. Showing empathy is recognizing that worry is a vital step in getting the person to find comfort with the biblical principles concerning worry and to be set free by the truth of God.
What are some biblical principles in overcoming worry?
Along life's road
Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom. Job 32:7.
Growing up, one of the most heard words coming from parents were "children should be seen and not heard," but with my father, it was "speak up, so you can be heard!" Particularly so, this was the case with my sister, Fanny. Daddy had to hide to hear her speak, but those who know Fanny would never believe this was so, because she has the gift of speech. Yes ma'am!
In all that you do, trust God
So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them.
. . . So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet-a vast army. Ezekiel 37:7-8,10.
