    Airline receives blessings from priest

By STAFF WRITER ~ Nassau Guardian:

St. Peter's Anglican Church members in Knowles, Cat Island opened it doors and their arms wide on Pentecost Sunday to welcome into their midst executives and staff members of Cat Island Air.

Captain Albert and Wendy Rolle owners and operators of the airline and other well wishers braved the torrential rain storms that the archipelagic islands experienced recently to attend the Eucharistic celebration in thanksgiving of the airline's 20th year of operation in and around the country.

Fr. Chester Burton, priest in charge of Anglican Churches in Cat Island in his Pentecost sermon took his text from Acts Chapter 2:1-11, in which Luke the author of the Acts of the Apostles retells the vivid events that took place the first Pentecost/Whit-Sunday.

Burton said that the God who empowered the first apostles to act with confidence after Jesus' death, resurrection and ascension is the same God who empowers man to do whatever they ask in His name, and he unequivocally stated God uses whom He chooses.

Burton told the parishioners that Rolle was someone who has never forgotten where he has come from and continues to provide stellar service to the people of their island.

He further said that even during these difficult economic times, Rolle has gone above and beyond the call of duty and sought to purchase an additional brand new 33 seater airplane to assist with daily air transportation for its patrons.

A number of the island's leaders and clergy including Eros Moncur (former education superintendent of the island), Rev. Elma Bain, Rev. Dr. Henry Pratt (oldest Baptist Minister in the Commonwealth of the Bahamas) along with chief councilor Valderine Seymour and senior island administrator Charles King. After the tributes, Burton blessed the new plane.
