Women urged to be all they can be By KARAN MINNIS, Guardian Lifestyles Reporter, karan@nasguard.com
We all know Whitney Houston's famous song, "I'm Every Women. It's all in me", but in reality many women find it hard to balance their lives as a wife, mother, and church member/leader. On Sunday, May 4, the Bahamas International Church of Christ will host its 10th annual nationwide conference aimed at teaching females just how to be all the woman they can be. "This event is our way of bringing women together for an inspiring and encouraging time," says church Public Relations Officer Pamela Hanna. "At this event we have a time for praise and worship, we have various dance routines, we have women share about their life experiences and what have contributed to their success spiritually. "It's also a spiritual event aimed at giving women a platform to get guidance and answers to their questions from women who have been where they are at." Entitled "I'm Every Woman", this event will be held on at the Wyndham Resort beginning 4 p.m. and will include seminars, games, food, entertainment and a question and answer panel. This year's guest speaker will be Edith St. Albord, 43, the women's ministry leader. "Edith is a wonderful woman," says Hanna. "She has dealt with many challenges in her life and thanks to God, she has conquered them all." Born in Nassau, Bahamas, St. Albord has been married for 10 years surprisingly the same amount of time she has been leader of the women's ministry. "She will be speaking on a wide range of topics that affect women, including spirituality," says Hanna. "So we expect her speech to be the highlight of the event." "Last year's event was very entertaining but it was also up-lifting and inspiring making me want to live out my best for God," said Danielle Miller, 37. "The theme was 'Beauty' and I got to see and hear about the struggles that other women just like myself endure on a daily basis. "I got to see people who had God play a huge role in their lives helping them become better people and it was great," said Miller. Tickets for this event are $30. They can be purchased from the church in the Hillside Plaza, Thompson Boulevard or by calling (242) 356-3423 for more information.
