There are, as far as I personally am concerned, a whole lot of phrases which have been handed down through the generations, which so many of us repeat day in and day out like parrots, but yet I believe, that if we were to just stop for a moment and reflect on what they actually mean, we'd find that in reality they don't make any sense at all. Now, one of these handed down phrases is the title of this article 'Kids will be kids?'. You will of course no doubt notice, that I've put a question mark after that phrase, because I am rather puzzled by its actual meaning.
I honestly believe, that whom ever initiated that phrase 'Kids will be kids', and indeed those who use it throughout this great big world of ours daily, are in effect endeavoring to convey to everyone, that the bad behavior which some children are displaying is quite natural; after all, 'Kids will be kids' they'll say with a supercilious, sheepish grin on their face, as the children in their care mess up again and again. Those who continually use this mindless phrase, when those in their care seem to habitually display disrespectful, rude, and completely unsatisfactory behavior, have a bad case of 'Excusitus'.
That's right, those who have not taken the time or made the effort required, to teach the children in their care exactly how to behave, have not displayed and modeled the type of behaviors which they should be exhibiting; these types of delinquent parents will make excuse after excuse when their kids mess up, by using the ridiculous phrase 'Kids will be kids'. To which I simply say....
what utter nonsense!
My Friend, let's face it; my kids, your kids, and ALL of the kids throughout the world are behaving in the manner in which they have been trained to behave. That's right, if the children in your care are exhibiting disgusting, dysfunctional behavior day after day, I have news for you......it's your fault and no one else's...... period! So, instead of saying over and over again as you look for another 'Excuse' 'Kids will be kids', you need to more correctly say 'Kids will be what I've taught them to be'...... end of story!
In conclusion, Parents, Guardians, and Teachers must stop daily making excuses for the bad behavior of the children placed by God in their care, and instead step up to the plate, and accept full responsibility for all of the behaviors exhibited, good or bad. As children have been either properly trained, or just let loose to behave as they want without proper parental guidance, so will they behave. It really is as simple as that.
