Officers of the police mobile patrol unit made a firearms arrest on Saturday while in the Montell Heights area.

The officers spotted two male occupants who were acting in a suspicious manner in a green Oldsmobile vehicle. Upon seeing the police, the two males exited the vehicle and ran. One of the men had a weapon, which fell to the ground.

Police retrieved the weapon, a .357 handgun with 9 live rounds of ammunition, and began to chase the two men.

Only one of the men, a 25 year old of central New Providence was arrested. Police are still searching for the other male and investigations into this matter continue.

Meanwhile, Inspector Evans said that the two burnt bodies found last week have still not been identified.

Last Tuesday the remains of a body so badly burned, coroners could not determine the sex, was found in an abandoned car in the bushes off Marshall Road, bringing the homicide count to 16.

And just two days later last Thursday; police also discovered a second burnt body some 40 feet away from the road near Abner Street, Fox Hill on a vacant lot. The discovery was made by a person passing the area.
