An investigation is still pending into allegations of misconduct by three Gaming Board employees, The Nassau Guardian has confirmed.
The employees an inspector, a computer operator and a worker in the accounts department who are accused of falsifying pay slips in order to obtain loans remain on the job as those inquiries continue.
Members of the Gaming Board were informed of the status of the investigation during a meeting on Monday, according to a source close to the investigation.
However, there is some concern that the probe could be compromised because two of the employees under scrutiny work in areas where they could tamper with evidence. It has been suggested that all of the employees particularly the ones posted in information technology and accounts be placed on administrative leave with pay until the investigation has been concluded.
The employees could face dismissal if any wrongdoing is proved.
The investigation was launched when an employee came across altered pay slips for the three employees. The altered slips were in similar fonts to the authentic ones, which further revealed that current deductions for loans were removed from the alleged fraudulent slips.
According to the pay slips that were seen by The Guardian, one of the employees has a monthly salary of $2,400.88, but takes home $105.68 after deductions. But that employee's monthly take home pay was increased to $825.41 on the second slip. This employee requested a job letter for Fidelity Bank, Palmdale on May 21, 2009.
Another employee with a monthly salary of $1,416.66 and take home pay of $816.84 had his take home pay increased to $625.84 on the allegedly fraudulent pay slip.
The third employee has a monthly salary of $2,799.98 and a take home pay of $1,314.12.
