Police: Man found hanging from tree murdered

By KRYSTEL ROLLE ~ NG Staff Reporter ~ krystel@nasguard.com:

Although the autopsy report has yet to be completed into the death of Adrian Major, who was found hanging from a tree on Saturday, the killing has been classified as a murder, according to Superintendent of Police Elsworth Moss.

The autopsy results are expected to be available sometime today, said Moss, head of the Central Detective Unit.

Moss added that all the signs point to a homicide.

He said police have received little information on the 32-year-old's death.

Major was found hanging from a tree in the Fox Hill area with a seat belt around his neck around 3 p.m. Saturday, police said. His hands had been tied behind his back and he had been gagged, according to investigators.

A resident of Fox Hill reportedly made the discovery and contacted the police.

Moss said Major was cleanly attired and had no other physical injuries on his body.

Assistant Superintendent Leon Bethel, lead homicide detective, said police were investigating Major's activities before he met his demise.

Additionally, he said detectives were conducting inquires in the Fox Hill area.

"We are still asking people to come forward if they have any information on the case," Bethel said. "People who may have seen Adrian between Friday and Saturday should also come forward. It is important that we speak with them."

Major's family members met with detectives yesterday, but they were unable to give any concrete information, Bethel said.

"We spoke with a number of persons who knew him, but there are no new developments," he added.

Major's death pushed the national homicide count for the year to 34.
