Trial of men accused of pulling guns postponed

The trial of two men accused of pulling guns on the son of convicted drug lord Samuel "Ninety" Knowles has been put off until next June.

Magistrate Carolita Bethel adjourned the case yesterday to accommodate the drug and gun possession trial of Melvin Maycock Sr., who has been denied bail.

Nehru Newton, 33, and Clarence Gray, 36, are accused of pulling 9mm guns on Theodore Knowles on April 22 and threatening him. They are both on $15,000 bail and have been ordered to return to court on June 24.

Newton, who is Samuel Knowles' nephew, was deported to Nassau after he received a sentence reduction in exchange for his testimony against his uncle. - Artesia Davis
