Disney will not leave Bahamas

By IANTHIA SMITH, Guardian Staff Reporter

Walt Disney confirmed yesterday that they have no intention of pulling out of any future film production in The Bahamas.

Michael Singer, the unit publicist for "Pirates of the Caribbean Two and Three" agreed there had been robberies at the hotels where film crews had been staying but emphasized that Walt Disney Studios had no intention of abandoning locations in The Bahamas. Real life pirates plundered the hotels where the crews were and made off with over $20,000 worth of equipment and cheques from the production team. "Absolutely untrue," Mr Singer said. "It is very important to point that out to people in The Bahamas.

At no time was production interrupted and we continue to enjoy a coopeative and productive relationship with the Bahamian government. Mr Kakebeen positioned himself with you as a spokesperson for the film.

He was completely, totally unauthorised to do so and essentially what he says does not represent the views of Walt Disney Studios," he added.

The new additions to the film trilogy are expected to be as successful as Pirates of the Caribbean Part 1: The Curse of the Black Man's Pearl.

which grossed over $650 million worldwide. The movie features A-list actors such as Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightely.
