There were more than 95,000 criminal cases that had yet to be tried in 2007, according to former Attorney General Allyson Maynard-Gibson, who made the revelation during her contribution to the mid-year budget debate in the Senate last night.

Despite Grand Bahama's absence, a record number of athletes and schools will compete in the 23rd Annual Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations (BAAA) Scotiabank National High School Track and Field Championships.
The meet, dubbed 'A Championships To Remember', will host about 1,500 student-athletes from 47 schools throughout The Bahamas. The Grand Bahamian schools will be busy with their inter-school meet in Freeport, Grand Bahama. That meet started yesterday at the Grand Bahama Track and Field Complex.
